"Tangy orange on the nose, the malt amplified by a curious saltiness on the palate. 84 points"

Smoky Rich Delicate Light

A little known resident of Speyside.

Pale gold.

Mild, sweet and fresh. Ground almonds, even dry marzipan, with some dark chocolate that eventually becomes nuttier.

Smooth, with a light to medium body.

Takes a fair amount of water. Light and fresh; pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetish start, some acidity.

Surprisingly dry, fairly short – all well balanced.

Distillery: AuchroiskTM
Age: 10 years old
Strength: 43% ABV
Place of Origin: Auchroisk
Region: Speyside

Mild nosefeel for its strength. Sweet and fresh. Ground almonds immediately apparent, even dry marzipan. Acetone. Some dark chocolate behind (this develops towards milk chocolate). Becomes nuttier all the time. With water, opens up: fresh and estery. Acetone, cooked pears, solvent. A light oily-fatty note behind, possibly nut oil. Nuttiness still apparent. Also a very light char in the back. Becomes more cereal-like – soggy Shreddies – and more ‘boney.’ Not so clean.

Expert Reviews
Insights from some of the best in the business

"This version is not obviously sherryish, but still manages very big flavours indeed. I'm very impressed."

Michael Jackson 2001, Whisky Magazine, Issue 20

"Malt and spice on the light nose, with developing nuts and floral notes. Quite voluptuous on the palate, with fresh fruit and milk chocolate. Raisins in the finish."

Gavin D Smith, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.75

"Young and zesty and citrusy on the nose, warming tangerine and citrus fruits and a touch of salt on the palate, medium long malty finish."

Dominic Roskrow, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.75
