"A well matured whisky. Rich, complex, displaying both outdoor and indoor flavours. Wintery"

Martine Nouet 2011, Whisky Magazine, Issue 93, p.63

The perfect

A rich and smooth Talisker which should be enjoyed in a Talisker Rocks Glass, neat or with a little water.

WHISKY & ...

The soft texture and the depth of the extra-aged Comté cheese tames the Talisker and makes its spicy, green flavours more accessible.

WHISKY & ...

Sweet smoke, fruits and the salty smoke: it may be mellow, but the 30 Year Old has the strength of character needed to take on the blue.

Talisker 30 Years Old On The Flavour Map
Taste the character and craft in every drop.

The oldest expression from the Isle of Skye.

Full gold.

Mild and unusually fruity, fading quickly into lush seaweed with charred sticks. Becoming soft and very slightly waxy or creamy, like fudge.

Medium bodied and viscous with long legs.

The smoke is immediate and dry with creamy oak. Almond milk and light, sweet stone fruits emerge, joined by a trace of salt.

Long, gently warming, with a lingering maritime aftertaste and just a white pepper tingle on the tongue in place of that chilli ‘catch'.

Distillery: TaliskerTM

Age: 30 years old

Strength: 45.8% ABV

Place of Origin: Isle of Skye

Region: Island

in brief… Simply structured and approachable. Less drying and rounder than the 25 year old, so more of an after dinner malt.

in a sentence… You would never guess this to be a 30 year old from the flavour – only the softness of the nose gives it away.

Unreduced, unassertive at first. No nose prickle. Opens in a little while to reveal a grapey, red wine note, with faint smoke behind. Adding water softens things and adds a spicy maritime note, leaving just a pleasing clue as to what lies beyond. This is a whisky for the palate, not the nose.

At bottled strength, a lively yet mature delight, like the favourite uncle you don't get to see often enough. Immediately sweet, peppery and hot, with just the right amount of balancing bitterness and salt, and no rough edges. The sweetness spreads right across the palate. Medium bodied. Drinks beautifully straight. Adding water (just a splash) gives a softer, still sweet start, with waves of warmth riding this tide then subsiding slowly across the palate. Talisker’s trademark chilli catch may be long gone, but the rounded pepper in this expression compensates with a doctor’s bedside manner; it is smooth and assured. Delicious.

Don't just take our word for it...
