A complete package. An exceedingly complex, gently smoky and salty-sweet Caol Ila with all the typical characteristics of the make rendered in gentle harmony.
Pleasantly salty-sweet, with traces of smoke, like a charred, honey-glazed smoked ham with tinned peaches. Becomes sweeter and slightly waxy when water is added, with a pleasing citric acidity, light saltiness and a growing fragrant smokiness.
Medium, oily and smooth.
Very smoky start with sweet grasses behind. Very sweet in the centre, with more notes of that honey-glazed ham. Broad and deep, retaining its initial freshness.
Dries to a very long finish. That charred salty-sweetness lingers, still calling to mind honeyed ham.
The Isle of Skye is renowned for its rich, varied landscape – from its soft, serene shores to the dark, jagged peaks of the Cuillin mountains. Talisker Skye is the distillery’s ode to these appealing contrasts, with a smoky sweetness, maritime notes and a spicy edge.
