The Singleton

The Singleton Of Dufftown 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Gift Pack with 2 Glasses, 70cl

The Singleton of Dufftown is distilled in the Dufftown distillery of Speyside, one of the largest in Scotland, where fine single malts have been produced since 1896. The unmistakable taste of The Singleton comes from a unique selection of European Oak casks that bring rich fruit aromas and American Oak casks that release honeyed hints of vanilla.

This gift pack includes a Singleton 12YO 70cl with its stunning new branding alongside two glasses, perfect for sharing a dram with friends.

Delivery is always free for Malts Club members and orders over £75.

"Sumptuous aromatic composition, as you’d expect from Speyside: plumply downy, with grass, moss and heather notes. On the palate, a deeper, grander soul than the aroma suggested: dark, forceful, with some chocolate and raisin richness and Latakia-tobacco austerities. Hard to fault, and a great after-dinner dram."

Andrew Jefford, distinguished wine & whisky writer - Financial Times, 28 December 2007

"The nose is sweet, almost violet-like, with underlying malt. Big and bold on the palate, this is an upfront yet very drinkable whisky. The finish is medium to long, warming, spicy, with slowly fading notes of sherry and fudge."

Gavin D Smith, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.103

"Honeycomb and tinned peach and apricot in syrup on the nose, sharp and spicy clean barley on the palate, with some bitter orange notes towards the finish."

Dominic Roskrow, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.101

Appearance

Rich amber, polished mahogany highlights.

Body

Medium to full-bodied.

Nose

Approachable and rich. First polished wood and nuts (toasted hazelnut) dominate, then stewed fruits (baked apples), dried fruits (sweet dates), and soft brown sugar take over. Mossy too, after a while. With water, a sweeter, more direct Speyside character develops (pure pear drops!). Clean and dense. After a while, warm, dry, aromas, of pencil shavings or match-sticks.

Palate

Sweetness and crunchy nuts impress at first, then there’s a smooth, fruity Speyside richness to enjoy. Firm, with a balancing sweetness. Brown sugar and espresso coffee. Warming and pleasant. With water, still a pleasant texture. Light sweetness, then chewy and balanced by light acidity, with a good spread of flavours mid-palate.

Finish

Medium to long, elegantly drying and crisp, completed by a pleasant, sweetly nutty chew-ability.
