Welcome to Blair Athol Distillery

Blair Athol stands on one of the oldest legal whisky sites in Scotland. Our whisky warms hearts with its mellow deep-toned aroma, strong fruity flavour, and smooth finish.

Notice to visitors

Following Scottish Government guidelines through their phased re-opening approach, the time has come to open the doors at Blair Athol and welcome back our visitors. To ensure the health and wellbeing of our employees and visitors, we will be implementing a number of precautionary measures which include temperature checks before entering, limiting the number of visitors on site at any one time, increased cleaning procedures and hand sanitiser stations. For more information on how we are keeping you safe, visit malts.com/reopening.pdf

All experience bookings can be made directly with the visitor centre team by phoning 01796 482003 or emailing us at blair.athol@malts.com

At Blair Athol we welcome all visitors but as we were established in 1798 some of our buildings are old and not easily accessible. Wheelchair access is available in our visitor centre, toilets, courtyard, and shop. Taking a tour involves climbing steps and so some aspects are not wheelchair accessible but we will do our best to show you as much as we can. If you have access requirements and would like some help to plan your visit please get in touch by telephoning +44 1796 482003 or emailing Blair.Athol@malts.com

THE STORY OF BLAIR ATHOL

Uncover the history behind the liquid

Blair Athol’s ancient source of water is the Allt Dour – in Gaelic “the burn of the otter” – flows through the grounds of the distillery from the slopes of Ben Vrackie in the foothills of the Grampian mountains. It is this constant supply of pure water which attracted John Stewart and Robert Robertson, who founded the distillery on the moorland south of Pitlochry in 1798.
