Just 15 miles from the capital, Glenkinchie is the Edinburgh Malt. To find out simply jump on our shuttle bus and pay us a visit in our breathtaking setting.

Travel & Accessibility

We are running a shuttle bus service to transport people from Edinburgh city centre direct to our distillery.  This service will need to be prepaid as a combined transport & entrance ticket.  Please call us on 01875 342 012 to make your bookings now.  Any unbooked seats may be available on the day; make sure you’re at the departure point 10 minutes before to check with the driver.

Glenkinchie Distillery was established in 1825 and some of our buildings are not easily accessible. We will do our best to show you as much as we can. THE STORY OF GLENKINCHIE

Uncover the history behind the liquid.

In 1825, farmers John and George Rate built and operated the distillery under the name Milton Distillery until it was licenced and renamed in 1837. Though it was transformed into a sawmill in 1853, the distillery eventually returned to its ‘natural state’ – and much-improved – state, becoming the redbrick Victorian masterpiece we know today.
