Berlin explores the theme of geo-engineered cities, reimagining it as a city that has fully embraced the next-generation battery technology it helped pioneer. Following BEK 2030 and BEK 2100, it’s now a leader in renewable energy storage and has become a self-sufficient art and food haven. By incorporating large-scale batteries directly into its modern geometric architecture, Berliners have been able to harness and store fickle renewable energies provided by solar, wind and biomass. The living walls that adorn its buildings and bridges now provide the city’s food markets with plentiful homegrown produce. Since the success of the Berlin Mobility Act in the early 21st century, cars are a thing of the past and its broad streets have been converted to walking and cycling paths, letting locals and visitors explore its classical architecture.
LONDON
London explores the theme of AI empowered cities, reimagining the UK capital as a wind energy powered metropolis. Its layers of classical architecture are complemented by lightweight geometric skyscrapers of steel and mirrored glass. Multi-layered green spaces and sky parks climb their exteriors as well as lining the banks of the Thames and covering its bridges. Aerial trains and flying ‘peakbuses’ evolved from the city’s iconic red double-deckers speed between these shining towers on skyrails, providing for the heartbeat of the city and allowing rapid transit from zones 1 to 67.
MARS
Mars explores the theme of geo-engineered cities and reimagines humanity as a multi-planetary civilisation with bustling colonies on the red planet. After 200 years, a once-dead world now teems with life and new energy, enabled by the second generation of ‘Martian’ colonists. Over a century of terraforming has already begun to bear fruit and the first signs of green life can be seen beyond the geodesic domes the Martians call home. Earth and Moon appear in the skies above - a powerful reminder not only of how far we’ve come, but that when we walk forward together, we can achieve anything.
