TALISKER 44 YEAR OLD

FORESTS OF THE DEEP

May we introduce: Talisker-Forests of The Deep - the second in a series of new limited edition Taliskers inspired by the elation that the wild elements of nature can only evoke.

A whisky born in the wilderness

Inspired by a 'Parley for the Oceans' expedition to one of the world's largest kelp forests near the Cape of Good Hope, where scientists, activists and filmmakers dove into the depths together. Talisker barrels were on board the ship and later smoked with sustainably harvested seaweed from Scotland.

THE SECOND EDITION FROM THE XPEDITION OAK SERIES

The Xpedition Oak series launched in April 2021 with the story of James Aiken's one-man crossing the Atlantic in search of a wild whisky adventure. Now we tell the second part of the story, and the passion Talisker has for the seas. With an expedition to the depths of the South African Tang Forest and a whisky born at sea, touched by the flames of seaweed and maritime smoked casks.

Old, rare and elemental

Only 1997 bottles of this rare whisky were released for sale worldwide - inspired by 'Parley for the Oceans' - Talisker's partner and protector of the oceans.

DAVE BROOM

WHISKY WRITER AND AFICIONADO

"A fascinating, bold, beautifully matured Talisker, made in a traditional, bold and uncompromising way. Some whiskies become refined and elegant with age; others become light and heavenly. A few, however, go in the other direction. They become richer, more complex and more concentrated. This is about how Talisker's character changes while refusing to become conventional and simple. Instead, the essential oils are enhanced, hearty elements are more intense, and the smoky aroma retained. It is sweet, full-bodied, smoky and salty - and deep....

...a Talisker with full power and remarkable energy for such an old whisky. A whisky of its time.”
