The History Of Blair Athol
John Stewart and Robert Robertson found a distillery on the moorland south of Pitlochry. They call it Aldour, after the alt dour or burn of the otter.
The distillery is revived as Blair Athol by John Robertson.
Distillery is now being run by Alexander Connacher.
Successive owner managers increase the capacity to 1,500 gallons per week.
Blair Athol closes, possibly due to the depression.
Arthur Bell and Sons save the distillery from closure, but don’t use it immediately.
The distillery is extensively rebuilt, re-opened, and has been in production ever since.
Production capacity increases with the addition of two new stills.
The distillery gets its own visitor centre which attracts thousands of visitors every year.
