Cardhu 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl

The light character of the 12 Year Old Cardhu is an excellent starting point for anyone starting on their whisky journey. Enticing and silky smooth, this is the quintessential Cardhu. Glowing with notes of golden honey and delicate, fruity character. Cardhu comes from one of the oldest of the Speyside distilleries, which have nestled in foothills near the River Spey for 200 years and the Cardhu range is an excellent representation of these Speyside whiskies. Known for its smooth, sweet-natured single malt whisky, the history of Cardhu’s rise to fame is to a large part told in the story of two determined women who were members of the founding family.

Serving Suggestion: The smooth, honeyed flavours of a 12 Year Old Cardhu shine best when served neat or over ice.

"This is a grassy malt, which at 12 years also has heightened citric spray of sweet orange zest and a gingery aspect (it's great with ginger ale). Intense and vibrant with macadamia and a light heathery note, the palate confounds expecations, having a tick chewiness before the grass zings through, adding lift."

Dave Broom, 2013, Whisky Advocate Summer 2013, p.114

"Very fragrant, with vibrant fruit (nectarine, plum, guava, pineapple, clementine), honeyed vanilla, and subtle macadamia. Fairly light (a pre-dinner or leisurely afternoon malt, perhaps?), but evenly balanced. A gentle introduction to single malts for the blended scotch drinker."

John Hansell 2010, Malt Advocate Fall 2010, p.75

"An enjoyable whisky which will do well as a summer drink."

Rob Allanson 2008, Whisky Magazine, Issue 73

"... this one really does the job, it won't offend anyone and actually please everyone."

Golden honey.

Soft, pleasing and medium bodied.

At full strength, heady, nose prickle, pear drops and tightly integrated heather, resin and sweet honey-nut notes. Enticing. Intriguing. With a little water, still harmonious but less pronounced, allowing some malt cereal, soft, spicy wood, moorland and faint traces of wood-smoke to appear.

Well balanced, smooth mouthfeel; short punch, sweet and fresh, then a pronounced drying effect. Moorish. Enjoyable at any time, with little or no water.

Lingering sweet smoke in the attractive, drying aftertaste.
