Based on the smoky soul of southern Islay whisky, our Whisky Sour is balanced by sharp citrus and smooth sweetness. With strong flavours and attractive garnishes, it’s the perfect party drink.

Ingredients

  • Whisky
    50ml
  • Lemon juice
    25ml
  • Sugar syrup
    2 parts sugar dissolved over heat into 1 part water
    20ml
  • Egg white
    Or 3 dashes of foaming bitters
    1
  • Angostura bitters
  • Orange slice
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Ice

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine-mesh sieve

Bartender tip: Shake it long and hard so the flavours blend precisely and always use fresh lemon.

Method
Step 01
Pour
Pour the whisky, juice and syrup into the shaker without ice, then add the egg white (or foaming bitters) and two dashes of Angostura bitters.
Step 02
Shake
Close the shaker and shake to froth up the mixture. Open the shaker, add ice, then shake again until the surface feels cold.
Step 03
Strain
Fine strain the mixture into a rocks glass and garnish with a skewered orange slice and maraschino cherry.
