The Rob Roy and Manhattan are kindred spirits: both are elegant blends of whisky, sweet vermouth and bitters. What sets the Rob Roy apart is it only uses Scotch whisky, whereas a Manhattan can use rye or other whiskies.

Ingredients

  • Whisky
    We recommend Cardhu 12 Year Old
    1.5oz
  • Sweet vermouth
    0.75oz
  • Angostura bitters
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Ice

Bartender tip: Use a quality single malt Scotch whisky that complements the sweet vermouth.

STEP 01
Pour
Fill a mixing glass with ice and add the whisky and sweet vermouth.
STEP 02
Add
Add two dashes of bitters. Stir for roughly 30 seconds and strain into a coupe glass.
STEP 03
Garnish
Skewer a maraschino cherry and lay it across the rim of the glass.
