Rare and Special

Luxury whisky gifts for Dad

A top shelf man deserves a top shelf malt this Father's Day. If your Dad is the sort of man who loves showing off your achievements - he might even still have some of your childhood trophies or artwork on display - he'll love showing off a luxury whisky gift or rare whisky expression given to him by his pride and joy.

If you need some help picking a whisky with a touch of luxury and exclusivity, consider:

  • Johnnie Walker Blue Label - Since 1992, Johnnie Walker Blue has redefined luxury malts. With just 1 in 10,000 casks meeting the exceptional standards for the liquid, quality is guaranteed in every sip.

  • Limited-edition collections - Look for one-off releases and limited collections from his favourite brands or reputable distilleries, like the annual Special Releases, where distilleries rethink and reimagine their expressions for something remarkable.

  • Exclusive collaborations and notable releases - From exciting designs on the bottle to anniversary editions, some whisky releases have an extra splash of something special and unique.

Refresh his whisky shelf with crowd pleaser drams and cocktail classics

Sure, a limited edition whisky makes a statement, but sometimes sticking with a reliable favourite does the trick.

From easy entry points into whisky for a casual sip to whiskies that he wont hesitate to whip up into a selection of the best whisky cocktails, a top quality whisky doesn't have to just sit on the top shelf.

Cocktail Inspiration

Have a drink with Dad - cocktails for Father's Day

You've got your gift sorted, but how else can you make Father's Day special? By surprising someone special with a serving of something just as special. Turn off your devices. Craft a classic cocktail. Spend some quality time over quality drinks.

If there’s one cocktail that's perfect for Father's Day, it’s the Old Fashioned. Unfussy but unforgettable, like a special man in your life, this drink gets to the point.

You’ll need:

  • 60ml (2oz) bourbon

  • 10ml (0.3oz) sugar syrup - 2 parts sugar dissolved over heat into 1 part water

  • Two dashes of aromatic bitters

  • Orange peel and a maraschino cherry

To make:

  • Fill a rocks glass with ice

  • Add the whisky, syrup and bitters

  • Stir and finish with an orange peel and cherry garnish.

A sweet treat for Father's Day

It's 2026. Dads can enjoy a sweet, sugary cocktail too. Even more so when it still awakens the toffee, honeyed flavours of a good dram. And with a touch of salt and smoke added to the classic sweet of a Piña Colada, the Salted Toffee Piña Colada has something for all palates.

You'll need:

  • 40ml (1.3oz) Johnnie Walker Black Label

  • 60ml (2oz) pineapple juice

  • 10ml (0.3oz) lime juice

  • 30ml (1oz) creamed coconut

  • pinch of salt

To make:

  • Measure and combine all ingredients into a shaker with ice

  • Shake hard for about 20 seconds

  • Strain into an ice-filled tall glass, and garnish with a pineapple wedge.

  • Aperitif: start the day as you mean to go on, with dad and whisky at the centre of it all, and serve up a beginner cocktail that primes the palate for the sort of flavours to expect. A light Whisky Highball is one choice for an aperitif, as it won’t be too overpowering but the flavours of the whisky will begin to open on the tastebuds. Alternatively, something like the Boulevardier with different herbs and spices in the drink will be a great opener.

  • First course - you don’t need to overthink an appetiser served with whisky. You can make a whisky sauce and serve the sort of finger foods you’d usually dip - meatballs, salmon bites, cheese, or even haggis if you’re going all in on the flavours of Scotland.

  • Main course - here’s where you can really experiment and showcase your whisky cooking prowess. Whether you marinate something in whisky and spices for hours beforehand or you serve up compound butters, homemade whisky salts as the ultimate seasoning, there are so many ways to bring whisky into the sort of dishes you’d normally serve up anyway.

  • Dessert - Often overlooked for how versatile whisky can be when it comes to sweeter, dessert-flavours, you have plenty of options for finishing your father’s day meal with flair. Serve up a whisky cocktail that feels dessert-like, such as a Cranachan inspired cocktail (again, great if you want to give the full Scottish experience), or you can whip up a dessert with a sweet whisky sauce or whisky baked into the flavours, such as a whisky bread pudding.

  • Digestif - of course, by this point, you’ll all politely say you couldn’t possibly handle another bite. And, of course, that will be a lie. Whisky has long been the king of digestifs - offering a slow sip to see off the occasion. You cannot go wrong with something like an elegant Old Fashioned, but any variation on the Whisky Sour will also be a perfect finishing touch.
