Talisker Distillery, Carbost, Isle of Skye IV47 8SR, Scotland, UK
By Car
The distillery sits on the shores of Loch Harport, around a 45-minute drive from Portree and roughly three hours west of Inverness.
The island is connected to mainland Scotland via the Skye Bridge, and the distillery is accessible via the A87 and the Isle of Skye road network. Roads on Skye can include narrow single-track sections, so visitors should allow extra travel time. Parking is available on-site. A local bus stop is located a short walk from the distillery, though services may be limited.
The distillery has received a Green Tourism Gold Award in recognition of its sustainability initiatives. These include the use of a biomass boiler to help reduce emissions and ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency across the site.
More broadly, as a whisky made by the sea, it's our responsibility to help protect it. That's why Talisker is proud to be currently supporting Seawilding, the UK's first community-based native oyster and seagrass restoration project.
Over three years (2025-8), we are investing £600,000 to support native oyster and seagrass restoration projects in Loch Craignish and Loch Harport – the very waters that have been home to the Talisker Distillery for generations helping create conditions for marine life and biodiversity to recover OR helping create conditions for marine life and biodiversity to recover over the next decade and beyond, while helping protect these lochs for future generations.
Talisker aims to make its visitor experiences accessible wherever possible. The Brand Home visitor building, which includes the bar, shop, and tasting experiences, is located on one level and offers step-free access. Accessible toilets are available on-site, and five designated accessible parking spaces are located close to the entrance with step-free routes into the building.
Areas of the working distillery are located on multiple floors and may have limited accessibility due to the historic layout of the building. Visitors with specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact the distillery ahead of their visit to ensure the best possible experience.
Guests planning to visit with a dog are advised to check current policies with the distillery before arrival.
