Talisker Single Malt Whisky The Wild Blue, 70cl
Introducing Talisker The Wild Blue, a limited edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky crafted by the sea on the Isle of Skye. In a first for Talisker, this sweetly smoky expression is finished in South African red wine casks for sixteen months, creating wild waves of deep fruit and maritime smoke, and evoking memories of bonfires on wild beaches.
Medium to full bodied.
Long, smooth and sweetly smoky, with a lasting memory of a peat fire on a wild beach.
Vibrant in nature, with classic pepper spice. A particularly smoky expression of Talisker, complemented by the expected maritime notes of drying seaweed and sea-spray drenched rocks. Brilliantly balancing the coastal minerality are some rich fruit notes with hints of red wine and sun-dried cranberries.
A pleasant, smooth texture leads into a sweet, intense taste in which fruity undertones of berries and orchard fruits add weight and intrigue throughout, with a real shake of salt mid-palate. The saltiness, smokiness and sweetness merge beautifully as they spread over the tongue, building to a classic chilli pepper ‘catch’. If water is added, a drop highlights the wine-like fruity sweetness and spreads the pepper across the whole palate.
Wild waves of rich fruit, depths of maritime smoke
Introducing Talisker The Wild Blue, a limited edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky made by the sea on the Isle of Skye. Inspired by Talisker’s coastal home, whisky makers selected red wine casks from coastal regions across South Africa to finish the whisky, creating a long, smooth and sweetly smoky Talisker expression full of maritime smoke and deep fruit flavours.
Restoring our coastal wildlife
Driven by their shared values and passion for the sea, Talisker and Blue Marine Foundation are joining forces to help to restore marine and coastal wildlife. Talisker’s connection with the ocean goes back hundreds of years starting when founders, the MacAskill brothers, stepped onto the shores of Skye to set up the Talisker distillery. The sea forms an important part of Talisker’s story and, home and the character of the whisky, and so Talisker feels compelled to help to protect this important resource. The Wild Blue will raise over £100,000 for Blue Marine Foundation, to go towards projects helping to restore multiple marine and coastal habitats in the Solent.
Funds raised from Talisker The Wild Blue will support projects designed to bring biodiversity and better water quality through the restoration of native oysters and seagrass meadows, creating flourishing habitats that will nurture and restore balance to our coastlines.
*Each promotional bottle made for worldwide distribution represents a £3 donation to Blue Marine Foundation, a registered charity in England & Wales. The total donated will be £112,608 irrespective of amounts sold.
Reducing our environmental impact
Talisker The Wild Blue reflects our profound respect for the untamed coastlines that shape our character. Presented in a refined bottle made from 100% recycled glass with elegant ceramic detailing, this expression reduces both our carbon footprint and water consumption, when compared to Talisker 10. By choosing to eliminate traditional packaging, we honour the raw beauty of our island home.
