Lagavulin’s bold, smoky character brings an unexpected twist to a classic cocktail in the Lagavulin Spicy Margarita. Swapping tequila for the rich depth of Lagavulin 16 Year Old, this serve balances the whisky’s signature peat smoke with fresh lime and a fiery jalapeño agave syrup. The result is a vibrant cocktail where citrus, sweetness and spice meet Lagavulin’s unmistakable Islay character.

Bartender tip: While spice enthusiasts might want to go in big with the heat, starting off smaller and building up as you shake and sip will allow the smoke of the whisky to open up.

Syrup
To make the jalapeno agave syrup, add 150ml / 50oz hot water to 600ml / 20oz agave syrup and stir until combined. Place into a blender, add 3-6 jalapenos and blend on high for 1 minute. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to squeeze as much liquid out as possible. Store in the fridge for 7-10 days

Rim
Rim one half of a rocks glass with a lime wedge and Tajin
STEP 02
Pour
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the whisky, juice and syrup
STEP 03
Shake
Shake for approximately 8-10 seconds=s
STEP 04
Strain
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice
STEP 05
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel
