Aromatic, Honeyed, Intricate Indulge in sweet, aromatic hints of heather honey and ginger spice, which twist and turn to become decadent dark chocolate and treacle, as savoury depth melts into a long, mouth-filling finish. First maturation in PX/Oloroso Seasoned European Oak Butts and Refill American and European Oak Finished in New Heavily Toasted Scottish Oak. Mortlach’s first ever finish in Scottish Oak (species Sessile Oak - Quercus Petraea) harvested in Dunkeld, Scotland, 24 months air dried before manufacture into casks. Very rare due to lack of availability of oak of suitable quality for making casks.
Dense, elegant and intriguing. Aromatic wood spice—cinnamon and ground ginger—opens with a dense yet refined elegance, followed by sweet Scottish heather honey, rich fruits and bright mixed peels. A savoury depth follows, with layers of leather, pork crackling and subtle tobacco adding complexity and warmth.
Robust palate with a coating of oiliness. Thick, syrupy richness floods the palate, carrying dried fruits, treacle and dark chocolate in a deeply indulgent experience. Aromatic spices weave through the sweetness as gentle savoury notes build.
All the flavours unite in a glorious crescendo with a long-lasting intricate finish with sweetness, warming spice and deep meaty/savoury undertones.

The Mortlach Story
Mortlach was the first licenced distillery in Dufftown, the Malt whisky capital of the world. Just like Rome was built on seven hills, Mortlach sits on seven stills and serves as the foundation for its bold and complex taste.
