Mortlach, the legendary distillery with over 200 years of history, has continually rewritten the rules of whisky making through its bold spirit of breaking boundaries and exploring uncharted flavor horizons. Renowned for its unique 2.81 distillation process, Mortlach crafts a signature rich, meaty profile revered by connoisseurs worldwide. Following the premiere of the NEVERBOUND series that launched this journey of discovery, Mortlach officially introduces its second chapter, "Reborn," turning the spotlight back onto the brand's iconic masterpiece—Mortlach 16 Year Old.
Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson pioneered a world-first technique by selecting six distinct sherry casks, tailoring the finishing period for each cask to harness its individual character. This unprecedented approach explores diverse sherry flavor profiles, weaving them together into intricate layers. Deconstructing classic tradition while paying homage to it, this release elevates Mortlach 16 Year Old’s signature style into a deeper, richer dimension beyond boundaries.
ABV: 50.8%
Opens with elegant notes of orchid and wildflower, followed by layered fruitiness of blackcurrant and charred orange peel. Subtle meatiness adds depth, reminiscent of toasted wood and honey-glazed ham. Mahogany and antique beeswax polish bring a mature, Old World elegance, intertwined with soft leather and toasted almond underneath. A final touch of Sicilian lemon zest brightens the darker tones, forming a complex and constantly evolving aroma.
