Cragganmore 1971 Single Malt Scotch Whisky - Prima & Ultima First Release, 70cl

This unique Cragganmore hails from the last cask produced at the distillery using coal-fired stills before switching to oil-fired steam heating in 1972. It represents an irreplaceable piece of history from a single first fill ex-Sherry butt—a bottling that cannot be replicated. Aged for nearly half a century, this whisky exhibits an unusually dark color with rich sherry top notes including treacle toffee, prunes in syrup, raisins, and espresso coffee. The flavors are profound with hints of tarred ropes, dark chocolate, and wine-soaked fruits.

  • Nose

The nose is rich in sherry top notes, with treacle toffee, prunes in syrup, raisins, and espresso coffee.

  • Body

    Full Bodied

  • Palate

The taste is thick and oily in texture, rich, sweet and complex with tarred ropes, hessian sacks, dark chocolate, wine-soaked fruit then a controlled, wood-spiced and peppery mid-palate.

  • Finish

The finish is long fresh and drying, with a lingering hint of leather-bound books.
