Oban
Oban Distillery
Nestled in the heart of Oban town itself, Oban Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest and smallest working distilleries. Founded in 1794 by brothers John and Hugh Stevenson, the distillery was established before the fishing town of Oban had even fully taken shape.
Today, it remains uniquely located in the centre of town near the harbour, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience a historic distillery within an urban setting. Oban produces a distinctive coastal Highland single malt, known for its balanced character, gentle smoke, and bright citrus notes.
Visiting Oban offers not only a whisky experience but a gateway to the West Highlands and Scotland’s island communities.

Explore Tours
Step inside Oban Distillery to explore the art of small-scale whisky making. Guided distillery tours offer insight into traditional production methods, followed by tastings of Oban’s signature coastal Highland whiskies. Visitors can choose from a range of experiences, from introductory tours to premium tastings and special events.
Due to the distillery’s compact size and popularity with travellers, advanced booking is strongly recommended, particularly during the busy summer and cruise season.
