Welcome to Dalwhinnie Distillery

Dalwhinnie Distillery stands in the Cairngorm National Park at the heart of the Scottish Highlands in the village of Dalwhinnie. From this remote but accessible location comes our liquid known as the gentle spirit.

Notice to visitors

Our tours are very popular so we advise that you book in advance to avoid disappointment, you can book online on this website. For large groups of over 16 people or coach/travel groups however please get in touch with distillery by phone or email.

Due to our location, the weather in winter can be severe and frequent road works occurring along the A9 can cause delays. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get here for your visit and if in doubt, phone the visitor centre to ensure we are open.

Young persons aged 8 to 17 will be charged £6 for The Dalwhinnie Tour and will be offered a soft drink and chocolate at the conclusion - we regret that, for safety reasons, children under the age of eight are not allowed to take a distillery tour but are still welcome in the visitor centre.

Uncover the history behind the liquid.

Built in 1897 and currently the highest distillery in the country, Dalwhinnie – or “Plain of Meetings” in Gaelic – is named for its location at a junction of old drove roads, between two mountain ranges. Year after year it survives the coldest of conditions to produce smooth, golden heather honey-like spirit.
