Join us on a journey through Glenkinchie’s storied landscape and rich heritage, filled with passionate people and a quest to capture the essence of East Lothian through our flavourful field-to-glass whisky process.
Your fully guided tour culminates in a tutored whisky tasting of 6 drams.
In addition to toasting special moments in time, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to enjoy a dram drawn straight from the Cask.
For any guests wishing to drive ,we are pleased to offer a take-away pack for your tastings so you can safely enjoy these later.

All wheelchair users are welcome to join us for a tour and your guide will offer an alternative to the elements of the tour which are not accessible. Please note that due to health and safety risk assessments, unfortunately we cannot accommodate motorised wheelchairs in certain working areas of the distillery during production. Please note not all areas are accessible due to some stairs however we do have an alternative for the sections not accessible. By Car
Glenkinchie Distillery is located just outside the village of Pencaitland in the East Lothian countryside, approximately 45 minutes by car from Edinburgh. The distillery is most easily reached by road via the A1 and A68 or the Old Dalkeith Road (A7). Free on-site parking is available for visitors, though spaces are subject to availability. For anyone renting a car in Scotland, remember that driving takes place on the left side of the road.
Public Transport Public transport is also available from Edinburgh. Lothian Buses operate the X7 service from Waterloo Place to Haddington, where visitors can connect to the Eve Coaches 123 Gifford Circle service to reach Glenkinchie. The full journey takes around 1 hour 15 minutes depending on connections.
Private tour operators and local taxi services also offer transport to the distillery, including guided whisky tours departing from Edinburgh.

Sustainability is an important part of life at Glenkinchie Distillery. The site has been awarded the Green Tourism Gold Award in recognition of its environmental efforts, including zero waste to landfill and a strong commitment to protecting the surrounding landscape.
Known as “The Garden Distillery,” Glenkinchie works to support local biodiversity through initiatives such as on-site beehives, bat houses and pollinator-friendly planting. Additional sustainability measures include water refill stations, cycle racks for visitors arriving by bike, and ongoing efforts to reduce the distillery’s environmental impact.
Glenkinchie Distillery aims to make its visitor experiences accessible to as many guests as possible. Accessible parking spaces are located directly in front of the main entrance, with step-free routes into the visitor centre. Accessible toilets are available on each floor of the building.
Most areas of the visitor experience are accessible via lift, although the historic Tun Room. where fermentation takes place. cannot be accessed by wheelchair. To ensure all visitors can still enjoy this part of the tour, guides provide an alternative experience including video and explanation of the process.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the visitor centre shop and bar areas when accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs must always be kept on a short lead and should remain under close supervision during your visit.
Dogs are not permitted in the distillery production areas or on guided tours, with the exception of assistance dogs. Visitors are asked to ensure their dogs do not climb on furniture, handle items in the shop, or disturb other guests.
Due to the size of the visitor spaces, the number of dogs allowed at any one time may be limited. The distillery reserves the right to ask visitors to leave if a dog’s behaviour causes disruption or safety concerns.
